As part of Vigilance Week, ICAR-NIVEDI, the Government of India conducted an Interactive Program at IIBS. Dr. Govindaraj G, Principal Scientist & Vigilance Officer, Dr. Nijalingam, Senior Scientist, and Dr. C. S. Sathish Gowda, from ICAR-NIVEDI handled the session. The programme was coordinated by Prof.Mangala V Reddy. The speaker started the session by giving a brief on vigilance week to the students and made them to take a pledge against corruption. Central Vigilance Commission observes Vigilance Awareness Week during the week in which 31st October, the birthday of the late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel falls. This year, Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 31st October to 6th November 2022 with the following theme: “Corruption-free India for a developed Nation”. The session concluded with the importance of vigilance week. “Corruption can be defined as dishonest or unethical conduct by a person entrusted with a position of authority, either to obtain benefit to oneself or to some other person. It is a global phenomenon, affecting all strata of society in some way or the other. Corruption undermines political development, democracy, economic development, the environment, people’s health, and much more.
