Numerous mythology is connected to Diwali. Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, represents the triumph of inner light over spiritual darkness. On this day, people worship Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and success in our life. As one of the most fortunate events in Jainism, this day also commemorates Lord Mahavir's 'nirvana,' or spiritual awakening. The day that their Sixth Sikh Guru, Hargobind Ji, was released from prison is commemorated on this occasion in the Sikh religion. Diwali is associated with the Ramayana, in which the god Ram returns from exile with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman after a fourteen-year exile.
