On 4th Day of MBA MOM, the "Cordial Colleagues" activity was conducted by Dr. Arun Kumar A. This initiative aimed to enhance students' teamwork and non-verbal communication skills through interactive role-playing games. The activity served as a crucial component of the orientation programme, fostering connections among peers and promoting a collaborative environment.
By engaging in interactive games, students were encouraged to rely on gestures, expressions, and body language for effective coordination and collaboration. Additionally, the activity sought to strengthen teamwork abilities, boost confidence in peer interactions, enhance problem-solving skills, and foster a sense of belonging within the group. Recognising the importance of non-verbal cues, the initiative aimed to increase students' awareness and understanding of such communication.
The methodology employed for this activity revolved around role play. Participants were divided into small groups, each assigned specific tasks that required collaboration without the use of verbal communication. Through a series of games designed to challenge their non-verbal skills, students had to rely on their ability to convey messages and coordinate efforts using only their body language and expressions. This hands-on approach allowed for experiential learning, which is particularly effective in developing soft skills.
The outcomes of the activity were multifaceted. Firstly, participants exhibited significant improvement in their non-verbal communication skills. Students demonstrated an increased ability to express themselves through gestures and facial expressions, facilitating clearer interactions without the reliance on spoken words. Secondly, the activity contributed to a marked enhancement in teamwork abilities. Students learned to appreciate the diverse roles each member played within their groups, fostering a greater understanding of collective goals. This collaborative spirit not only enriched the group's dynamic but also highlighted the significance of shared responsibilities.
Moreover, the engaging and playful nature of the activities helped to boost students' confidence in peer interactions. Lastly, the sense of community established during the session was palpable.
In Short, this activity successfully met its objectives of enhancing non-verbal communication, teamwork abilities, and problem-solving skills among participants. Such activities are vital for nurturing essential soft skills, which are crucial for the professional development and future success of MBA students.
