Prof. Supriya Srivastav conducted a session on personality tests on the fifth day of MOM 2023. The corporate sector frequently use personality tests to evaluate candidates and support the formation of cohesive teams. Additionally, it can aid people in realising their strengths and weaknesses so they can develop into their best selves. Due to the inherent limitations of self-awareness, even the most self-aware people have blind spots.
The Big 5 personality test (OCEAN personalities, as they are defined in the test) is used to assess a person's key personality traits and determine which roles are most appropriate for them in the workplace. Students took Big 5 personality assessments. They were given a questionnaire, and they had to answer it based on their perception of how they felt about a certain circumstance or how they reacted in a particular situation, on a scale of 1 to 5. The Big 5 questionnaires are used frequently in corporations for personality assessments since they are created in a way that tracks the 5 traits that define any individual and is backed by science.
The lesson gave the students insight into their personality types and the areas they needed to improve in. For instance, a student who scored poorly on the trait "Agreeableness" has to work on it in order to be more socially adept. Low "Agreeableness" individuals are less inclined to trust others, get along with others, or show empathy for people around them. Although they may still have an impulse to care for close loved ones, they tend to be less caught by their emotions and sensitive to others' needs. It will be more difficult for someone with a low "Agreeableness" score to work in human resources or a related area, so candidates should focus on improving this feature. This will assist him or her in both improving personal and professional performance.
At the conclusion, students took a quiz in which they had 20 seconds to respond to a question. Personalities, attributes, and regions of alignment were the topics of the questions. It was a lively and interesting workshop that encouraged healthy competition among students.
