CAT (Common Admission Test) considered as the mother of all the MBA entrance exam is a top level national management exam organized by the IIMs. This year the top contenders to convene CAT 2018, are IIM Calcutta and IIM Kozhikode. It is conducted every year to offer admission to the top MBA colleges in Bangalore.
CAT is a computer-based exam of 3 hours with 100 questions. The paper has three sections – Quants consists of 32 questions, Logical Reasoning & Data Interpretation consists of 34 questions and Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension with 32 questions.Candidates having 50% aggregate in bachelor’s degree are eligible for appearing in it. The registration form can be submitted online on the official website of the IIM. The Registration Fee for this year is Rs 1900. The tentative date for CAT 2018 is 4th week of November. The registration will start in the 2nd week of August 2018 and will end on the 3rd week of September 2018.
As mentioned earlier it has three sections of 60 minutes each and a total of 300 marks. The candidates are not allowed to move from one section to another section during the time assigned to a particular section. The pattern for this year is likely to be the same. There are both MCQs and Non-MCQs. Each of the correct answers will be awarded 3 marks for both nonmcqs and MCQs and each wrong answer for MCQs will be imposed the penalty of (-1 marks).
Apart from the top IIMs, many top colleges from Bangalore, Kolkata, Noida (Delhi NCR) etc and hundreds of other MBA colleges accept CAT scores. The fees structure of these MBA colleges ranges between 5 lakhs to 30 lakhs having separate application fees for the respective colleges barring the IIMs.
